Improved Wellbeing for Cancer Patients with Healthier Diets

Research findings indicate that eating healthier can significantly enhance the effectiveness of cancer treatment and improve the ability to recover from and manage side effects. By focusing on a nutritious diet, individuals undergoing cancer treatment can boost their overall health and well-being, empowering their bodies to better combat the disease and its impact. Questions and confusion about diet and nutrition are a common concern often brought up by cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers. AdventHealth Cancer Institute and AdventHealth Whole Health Institute have partnered together to create Cooking Up Comfort Culinary Medicine for Cancer.

Lisa Markley, MS, RDN is the Director of Culinary Medicine at AdventHealth’s Whole Health Institute where she develops fun and engaging educational programs that integrate the art of preparing, cooking, and presenting food with the science of medicine to achieve improved health outcomes.

Cooking Up Comfort is taught by Lisa Markley, MS, RDN, LD and will feature Cancer Institute providers. The program consists of 6 sessions over a 6-month period. Individuals may sign up for individual sessions at any point.
